Sathabhishekam of HH Srimad Srimushnam Andavan

By the Compassionate Grace of the Divya Dhampathi & the benevolence of the PoorvAchAryAs, Sishyas & Abhimanis will celebrate the Sathabhishekam of HH Srimad Srimushnam Andavan between the 13th & 21st May 2015. HH Srimad Srimushnam Andavan will complete 80 years of age on the 21st May 2015.

The existing Trusts & Committees along with the Sishyas & Abhimanis at various centres will do so in a reverential, simple & yet befitting manner.

We will have a short group comprising Shrimans i) V Upendran, Chennai, ii) R Rajagopalan (Thambu), Bengaluru, iii) S Badrinarayanan, Bengaluru, iv) AR Rangachari, Secunderabad, v) R Venkataraman, Dombivili, vi) Prof Vasudevan, Madurai & vii) N Kasturirangan, Chennai & Srirangam to coordinate the events between the respective centres of the Asramam. Shri R Vasudevan, Chennai will be the convenor of that group. Adiyen might expand this group at a later date.

This is a milestone in the history & evolution of the Asramam & Visistadvaitha Sampradayam itself; over the past 120 years, only two AchAryAs in Srimad Andavan lineage will have completed 80 years of age!!

The mind boggling Kainkaryams of HH Srimad Andavan encompassing several areas (since His Sanyasa Sweekaram on the first day of June 1989) will be listed separately in the September 2013 issue of The Paduka. We should recall what the AchAryA told the large audience on that day – i) he didn’t possess the multi-faceted talents of His AchAryA who traversed throughout the Bharatha Varsha (over 40,000 kms by foot) & established Asramams, Temples, Sannathis, Patasala etc., & ii) but he assured us that, with His limited capacity (??!!??), He would preserve & maintain the monumental landmarks created by His AchArya since 1963.

History will record how brilliantly & effortlessly he has carried on in the path shown by His illustrious Preceptor over the past 24 years. Adiyen will not commit inexcusable the apachAram of comparing the lifetime achievements of these two great sages but leave it to the Sishyas & Abhimanis to participate in His Kainkaryams in future also as enthusiastically & munificently as they have done in the past.

HH is categorical that all “achievements” were, are & will be possible only due to the Blessings & constant motivation of the “Pathu PeriaVaa” (as HH always refers to His 10 Predecessors to the Peetam of Srirangam Srimad Andavan Asramam) during the past 24 years. No specific project or plan will be earmarked for the Sathabhishekam celebrations as there are several huge ongoing projects in different centres to be completed over the next 10-15 years which at current estimates will cost over Rs. 300 Crores!!

We will also recall the (almost) prophetic Blessings of HH the 44th Jeer of Sri Ahobila Mutt on that momentous day while Blessing HH Srimad Andavan. The great Sage declared in His nonchalant style “Asramam now has a bright future for the next 45 years & will become a beacon-light for ALL SriVaishnavaites”. HH was not just being kind & courteous befitting the occasion. The great Mahaan foresaw that Sriman Andavan would steer the Asramam (for the next 45 years) into uncharted territories & establish benchmarks that will be very hard to equal or surpass by future generations!!  

We are requesting the Heads of SriVaishnavaite Mutts & Asramams to participate and Bless the Sishyas & Abhimanis & would keep you all informed of this. It is also planned to conduct Gana Parayanams by Salakshana Ganapatis on this momentous occasion.  

We are yet to take a call whether to split into two separate events – i) four days of Vidwath Sadas to enable HH to conduct the Vidwath Sadas in a relaxed manner without the crowd pressures & ii) 5 days of Veda & Grantha Parayanams at Srirangam capped by the magnum opus event – 81st Thirunakshatram on 21-05-2015 at Srirangam.

We will arrange accommodation at Srirangam & transport from & to the PeriAsramam during the 5 days of festival (17-05 to 21-05-2015) as was done during the Sapthathi of HH in June 2005 & the Centenary of His AchAryA in March 2007. Sishyas & Abhimanis are requested to firm up their travel plans well in advance.
