Ashramam Tiruchanur Veda patasalai

Sreemathe RangaRamanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha
It is well known to all of you that our Acharyan is very much keen to spread the learning of Vedas by young brahmachari brahmin boys, irespective of sects like vadakalai, Thenkalai, smaartha or maadhva. Objective is to preserve Vedas and vedic tradition and encourage young boys to get attarcted to these studies. Our Ashramam with the support of many of you, gives incentives like free vedic education, accomodation and food plus monthly allowance. Besides this at the end of their 8 to 12 years Course, a lump sum amount is given, along with the certificate of course completion.
As far as the number of students are concerned, Srirangam and Tiruchanur stand at the top. At Tiruchanur around 60 boys are taking the various courses, primarily Yajur Veda and its divisions.
Last Sunday, I was in Tiruchanur and met our Ashramam Trustee Sri Chakravarthi, who was pleased to give a copy of photographs taken of the vidyarthees as well as certificate and incentive presentation by H H, who camped there two weeks back .

Pictures of Nava Tirupathi Temples

Sreemathe RangaRamanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Last week I posted videos and photos taken at Tirukkurungudi, during Kaisiga Ekadasi. I followed it up by visiting Nava Tirupathi Kshetrams, starting with Azhwar Tirunagari. It was on a kaisiga Dwadasi day. Perumal on Garuda Vahanam and Swamy Nammazhwar in Hamsa Vahanam purappadu was there to enjoy my visit. I wanted to share with all of you also some of the pictures which I took in Azhwar Tirunagari and a few other Nava Tirupathi Temples.

Architectural work with beautifully carved granite pillars and walls are to be seen perosnally to enjoy. All of us must be very much indebted to the grand son of T V Sundrama Iyengar, Sri Venu Srinivasan for the sheer dedication to which he has restore and maintain many of these temples and made them to them easily approachable to the pilgrims..Here are some of the pictures

Tirukkurugudi-- Kaisiga Ekadasi

Sreemathe RangaRamanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

Tirukkurungudi and its Nambi Perumal Sannathi are very much associated with Kaisga Puranam, as its patanam was done there originally, on Kaisiga Ekadasi day. This year this came on 24th November. This has been a day and night long function. Perumal Tirumanjanam was carried out during the day. Then the evening functions with dance recitals by a professional dance troup headed by Smt. Anita Ratnam. The whole programme was well organised and peole in hundreds watched the whole show. To enjoy the whole event, you must know about kaisiga Puranam to some extent about the stories of Perumal and Nambaduvan. I just enjoyed viewing the whole events and took some movie clips, which I am attaching with this mail. I would appreciate , on seeing the movies, if any of our learned members can provide the naration.

Tirukkurugudi is very much associated with Sri Ramanujar and there is a story behind Vatta paarai, which tells about t5hat Sri Ramanujar is carrying out Pancha Samaskaram for Perumal Himself, who has come there in the guise of Vaduka Nambi, sishya of Sri Ramanujar. You may see in the movie clips taken at the site.

One thing what I noticed is enormity of stone carved sculptures all over this Temple Mandapams and I have taken a small coverage of those beautiful images, which can be seen in Nava Tirupathi temples also. They areally amazing and wondered the skill of those artisans and also the technicians, who erected those tall pillars ansd roofs.

Tirumalai Nambi Tirukkoil, which is up the hills of a really very rough terrain, which several Mahindra Jeeps take you there. The travel can termed in the one of the worst ghat sections to negotiate and I really appreciate the skill of the drivers, who are driving the Jeep vehicles boulders after boulders. I would advice that week hearted people think twice before using those jeep rides. If you have strength, you may climb up by foot a distance of about 3 to 4 Kilo metres. It is in a Tiger reserve forest area and you can only during day time.

There is another Nambi temple in the village , called Tirupparkadal Nambi

Tirukkurunkudi is the place where SriTirumangai Azhwar attained Paramapadam and his Brindavanam also called Thiruvarasu is in the outskirts of the village.

In the last, we have to tell about famous son of the soil Sri T V Sundaram Iyengar. He originated from this place and the letter T denotes this place. Even now, TVS family have their residences here, properly mainatained.

We have to appreciate the services of TVS family members, led by Sri Venu Srinivasan, who has taken care to mainteanace of the whole Temple in a professional way, in coordination with the Jeer Mutt. The same is said about Nava Tirupathi Temples. TVS family Trust has an office cum facilities centre at this place,to take care of day to day matters.

I have given some insight into Tirukkurungudi Temple. I welcome our members to persue with posting all other interesting details. In the meanwhile please enjoy viewing the you movie clips taken on the Kaiga ekadsi day, 24th November, 2012.

Kaisiga Ekadasi day at Tirukkurungudi
Sreemathe RangaRamanuja Mahadesikaya

This year I had the opportunity to be in Tirukkurugudi on the day of Kaisga Ekadasi, 24th November,2012 Throughout that day and night, it wass very pleasant experience, to watch the whole night celebra...

After that, in front of Perumal Arayar sevai with Abhinayam, then Kaisiga Purana Patanam, which went till day break on 25th Nov.

Passing away of Sri Sarangachariar of Srimath Andavan Ashramam

Sreemathe RangaRamanuja Mahadesikaya Namaha

With deep regrets, I am reproducing the following message received from Sri RR on the passing away of a devouted Ashramam sishya the one and only Sri Sri Sarangarajan, popularly called as Saarangaachariar, last night in a Chennai hospital.

Daasan,

R Srinivasan

A Great AchAryA Kainkarya Sri passes away

It is with deep regret that we report the passing away of Shriman VK Sarangarajan Swami popularly known as ‘Sarangachar’ to his countless friends & admirers at around 10 PM on Thursday the 29th November. He is survived by Smt Anasuya (his dharmapatni), sons Parthasarathy & Srinivasan and daughter Padmavathi Sudarsan & grandchildren. He was 84 years young. While all friends & admirers will feel a terrible vacuum, adiyen’s loss is personal; our two families go back 90+ years – the Swami’s father-in-law was the early mentor for adiyen’s grandfather when he started his legal practice in 1910’s.

The Swami was born on May 1928, served the Indian Railways mostly in the North Eastern India for nearly 30 years before taking VRS in 1977 & settled down in Madras (Chennai). Then followed a golden era of totally committed & unparalleled Kainkaryams by any Sishya over the next 34+ years to the Asramam & our AchAryAs. Pancha SamskArams & Saranagathi were performed under HH Srimad Thirukkudanthai Andavan in 1977 & 1982 (on Mahalaya Amavasyai) respectively.

Adiyen cannot appropriately describe the Swami’s total faith in & absolute commitment to his AchAryAs. Whenever HH Srimad Andavan camped at Chennai, the Swami will get up at 3.00-3.30 AM, complete his daily anushttanam (incl the Perumal/Paduka Aradhanams at his residence) by around 4.30-5.00 AM, off he will go to the Asramam, wake up (if necessary) the Kainkaryaparars, make them finish their morning anushttanam & get on with the job of Thaligai, Aradhanams or whatever!! Not a very popular job BUT one that got done without fail. He will stay on till the Perumal/Paduka Aradhanams are completed by HH Srimad Andavan, go home & will be back in the afternoons to do whatever minor or major Kainkaryam allotted to him by the AchAryAs.

When HH was on Vijaya Yatra also, the daily visit to the Asramam continued unless he was abroad visiting his children or was so unwell that he could not move out. Maasaanam Maargaseerisham will find him in the Asramam on all 30 mornings directing the operations, getting ready the Prasadams on time & enabling the Dhanur Maasa Aradhanams to proceed without any hitch (whether HH was in town or not).

No Kainkaryam was too small or undignified for him; he would clean tables/benches/lamps, fill them with oil, trim the wicks, cut the vegetables (if need be), step on a rickety table & garland the AchAryAs’ photos in the main hall, dust&clear the walls&ceilings to remove the cobwebs, stack the large loads of fruits in the shelves, checking the vouchers, bargaining with provision store for better rates etc., He was always (over)active like the proverbial bee in a beehive!! It was crystal clear to all Asramam Sishyas & Abhimanis that an unprecedented phenomenon was in motion. The respect & awe that such (amanushya) Kainkaryams created have to be seen to be believed. He was at his peak during the annual Thirunakshatrams (TN) – morning till evening!! The day after the TN will find the Swamin coming out with an item wise statement of expenses of Veda/ Grantha/ Prabandha Parayanam, Thadeearadhanam, Temple Honors, conveyance etc., show the clear excess/ deficit as the case maybe. The Swami’s reach was everywhere & all-encompassing that adiyen will – in jest – always call him as the Chairman!!

He was a true karma yogi (as much as one can be in this Kali Yuga) & adiyen recalls Slokha 47, Ch 2 of Srimath Bhagavath Geetha here:

“You have the right only to perform your prescribed duty or KarmAs; you have no rights over the fruits of action. Never consider yourself to be the cause of the KarmAs or the results thereof! Never be attached to or desire for inaction (of KarmAs!).”

Sarangachar Swami lived this concept – as much as anyone could or would - for the past 34+ years

Slokha 514 of Sri Paduka Sahasram:

Parigruhya sThiramamshukam manOjnyam jaradhamshukavath suKhEna dhEham

Kruthina: kEshavapAdhukE! Thyajanthi

Swamy Desikan states: the PaadhukAs present the Jeevathma with a novel & new garment, when the Jeevathma seek their refuge. He says: "Oh Kesava PaadhukE! You present a novel and radiant garment made out of the threads of rays emanating from Your gems to the approaching Jeevathma. After receiving this rare garment, the blessed Jeevathma abandon their earthly bodies effortlessly, as if they are getting rid of a worn-out garment. The Swamin’s Aathma has now shifted the Kainkaryam to SriVaikuntam where he can serve the Prathama AchAryAn – Krishnan VandE Jagath Gurum – with the new dress granted by the PaadhukAs!!

We are however left to wonder – whence will come such another!!

FROM:

Sunday, 21 October 2012 9:43 AM

Sri Vishnu Sahasranamam contains 1008 Names of Sri Mahavishnu.
This entire compiling was done after the Mahabharata war and Saint Vyasa Mahamuni wrote the entire versus with answers for the queries raised by respective personnel they were part of that time. It occurs in Anusasana parva of the great epic Mahabharatha. In the words of bheeshma singing the names of the lord is the superior dharma and that by this one gets released from all miseries, problems and sins.
Every Name of Sri Vishnu has a meaning to it; quite apart - the phonetic vibrations by chanting each Name known as "Nama" and the chain of names known as "Namavali" produces very fantastic results of vibrations that are very essential for humans knowledge and wisdom. What the phonetic sound vibrations create to the chanter or to the one who hears it is very well established by many eminent scholars. For attainment of spiritual liberation, one must involve himself/herself to the glories of the Lord Sri Mahavishnu, by reciting the entire slokhas.
This not only strengthens the brain neuron chips but also emits the brain wave at a very conducive limits that can revibrate the energies into one's own body. Besides, the thought and thinking of a person can also be regulated to divine path. That's the exact value, which bring every Bhakta known as devotees of Sri Maha Vishnu.
Indeed, such a long recital of 1008 nAmAs glorifying the Lord and His splendor is rare in the world. Indeed the expression NaMa is made up of Na for Naramandala and Ma for manas, our Mind. NaMa, the chanting of which helps to unite our nervous system and Mind.
The main body of Sri Vishnu Sahasranama consists of 107 stanzas which contain the one thousand names of Sri Maha Vishnu. Every one of the one thousand names is full of significance and refers to one particular guna (quality, characteristic, or attribute) of Paramatma.
These names invoke a sense of bonding with the Lord. The meanings of the names give us an understanding and depth of God as there is a deep connection between the name and the named.
The necessity of cleansing our body regularly to maintain hygiene and good health is recognized by everyone. But with the busy nature of today's world, we do not see our mind the same way as we see our body. As a consequence, the need for keeping our minds clean is not appreciated.
Those who do not cleanse their mind on a regular basis become mentally jaded over a period of time.. Prayers are a means to mental cleansing when they are chanted with sincerity and devotion. This is the secret of one’s stress relief.
In these days were people face innumerous problems, miseries, misfortunes etc to face them with courage and come out with success there is no other medicine except recitation of Bhagawan nama. Various shastras have indicated that Vishnu Sahasranam japa helps cure & remedy.
a) Vaidya Shastra states various illness are cured by recitation of Sri Vishnu sahsranama.
b) Mantra shastra states those who seek development in career , promotions, education, and various aspirations , achieve the same by recitation of Sri Vishnu sahasranama.
c) Jyotisha Shastra states that for difficulties/ problems arising out of various DashaBukti , recitation of Sri Vishnu Sahsranama is the only solution.
In the phalasruthi also it is stated that one who recites this sahasranamam of the lord and the one who listens this too will not attain any difficulty . Almost all the dharamasastras of the great sages and azwars recommend recitation of sri Vishnu saharanama for ones welfare. Various sampradayas and Acharyas have always highlighted the importance of Sri Vishnu sahasranama.
On Vijaya Dasami day every year the Sri Balaji Sripadamthangigal sabha , Dombivili conducts AKANDA SRI VISHNU SAHASRANAMA PARAYANAM for the welfare of all with the prayer to Almighty to shower HIS blessings on all for good Health, Wealth & happiness .
